VACANCYSENIOR BIOINFORMATICIAN

The Czech Centre for Phenogenomics (CCP) is a large research infrastructure that provides unique services to the biomedical and biotechnology research community in the areas of genome editing, phenotyping and animal model research. To expand our team, we are currently seeking candidates for the Bioinformatics unit.

Core responsibilities:

  • Analysis of images and developing programs for automatic using AI
  • Or modelling of 3D structure proteins and their interactions using ‘alpha-fold’ SW and aiming to find new structure modulators
  • Actively engaged in the development and support of process automation initiatives to streamline workflow and extremely reduce time spent on manual data exports
  • Lead of a small team of bioinformatics and performing own research
  • Analysis of big phenotyping data
  • Analysis of NGS data

The best candidate should:

  • be willing to learn and develop new solutions in data processing
  • be experienced in R or in Python (other languages, MySQL advantage)
  • know Linux and Shell script
  • have knowledge of statistical analysis
  • be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • have good communication skills and be able to work with the team as well as on a self-contained basis
  • be creative and able to find innovative solutions
  • possess MSc in bioinformatics, statistics, mathematics, or related subject and have relevant track record in the field

The employer is the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The workplace is the CCP building in BIOCEV campus in Vestec. The initial contract is for 12 months with expected extension upon demonstrated proficiency. The starting date is negotiable.
